First Days~

Today Casa de Everly marks the first day of High School and Middle School for JP & Rachel. We started the day off with a 5:30 wake up and JP left for the bus stop at 6:10. Rachel was up at 5:30 too, even though her clock was set for 6:30. Rachel was off at 7:25, dropped by Mom today since she had an armful of supplies. She plans to mix it up some by riding her bike on nice days too. Mean while back at the Casa, a 1/2 pot of coffee down and a long ignored list of cleaning honey-do's begins. Later this morning, it's off to the gym to get back on the exercise wagon. I've given myself the 5 months we have left to shed the fluff I've aquired here. Happy Monday to all and I will update later with first day of school anecdotes.

Dang it!

This week I was reminded of a few things.
1. Remember to always, always leave 2 car lengths in front of you no matter what the others around you are doing.
2. People in Guam drive like crap.
3. I am thankful for seatbelts.
4. USAA is a great insurance company.

P.S. I am grateful that no "chamorro carpoolers" were in front of me.

It's coming....
I guess you can't tell much by the yard stick in the picture, but as of this week's measuring and weighing JP is now 5'10" and 140#. He's grown about 2 inches in the last 3 months. The new school shoes I just bought are a size bigger than the ones we bought at the beginning of the summer. I swear I can hear him growing at night as I walk past his room.... It's not that we deliberately measure him often, it's just that every so often now I look out of the corner of my eye and he's ...BIGGER. Then we measure and sure enough it's another 1/2 inch. Not that I should be surprised, right? He does descend from giants.
